Operations Manager

We have a rare opportunity for an Operations Manager to join Families United Network (FUN), a successful charity, who will be key to the development and growth of a highly successful service provision for people with disabilities.

The successful candidate will be a pro-active individual who is well organised, has attention to detail and can demonstrate a proven capability to be flexible and innovative in their approach to workload. Our Operations Manager must be able to prioritise workload whilst being organised. Discretion and ability to listen and be empathetic are essential for this role as well as having excellent inter-personal skills to manage and lead a small team.

Whilst reporting to the Board of Trustees the Operations Manager you will work to promote and sustain FUN, and the development of its services offered under trustee direction and ensure the Charity complies with all legal requirements.

The Operations Manager is responsible for the services offered by FUN and it is likely that experience of working in the charity sector will be advantageous. We are looking for the Operations Manager to enable employees to deliver and improve the services FUN offers its members. They will carry out all necessary actions to ensure compliance with the Charity Commission and all other legislative bodies.

You will also support our fundraising efforts by attending relevant funding meetings as well as helping to developing and sustain Partnership working.

As part of your responsibility you will oversee the team which requires you to carry out all employee appraisals and develop training plans accordingly. In addition you will oversee HR function to include recruitment, issues, reviews and sickness.

Administrator

Families United Network is looking for an Administration Assistant for 30 hours per week  to join our small office team in providing administration support to all areas of the charity.  Your duties will include but not limited to the following areas:

  • Newsletter
  • Social media
  • Marketing
  • Telephone work
  • General office duties

The ideal candidate will have proven extensive experience of an office environment, competent in all Microsoft software, social media.  Marketing experience would be an advantage.  Flexible and willing to be hands on in all areas of the charity.

Caretaker

Caretaker Vacancy – £10 per hour

Families United Network is looking for a part-time caretaker.

The ideal candidate will be confident, hands on, experienced to work alone and be self-motivated. We are ideally looking for someone that has good DIY skills, with basic plumbing and carpentry skills.  They will be pro-active in maintaining our activity centre ensuring health & safety, carrying out safe checks, arranging for routine servicing and maintenance to be carried out.  They will also be required to carry out the cleaning of the premises.

There will be occasional weekend / evening cover required as this role would involve being a keyholder.

Trustee

Families United Network are recruiting new trustees including a secretary to join the Board.  FUN are looking for people who can commit to 3-4 hours a month to attend evening board meetings to assist with the development of the Charity and it’s services.  Being a Trustee of FUN is a rewarding role (Role of a Trustee) and a vital one so if you would like more information then please do get in touch by either calling 01582 420800 or contact us.

Clerk to the Board

The board of trustees require a Clerk to the Board.  We are seeking an experienced, skilled and competent person.

Duties will include:

  • Minute taking at 10 meetings per year
  • Efficient administrative support
  • Organise the Annual General Meeting
  • Collation and distribution of board paper in accordance with legal requirement, and the charities constitution.
  • Additional duties as required by the board of trustees.

Average of 4 hours per month.  Attendance is required at 10 evening meetings per annum, usually on a Monday

£8 – £10 per hour depending on experience

Support Workers & Bank Staff

FUN are looking for Support Workers for our Saturday Club.  Saturday Club runs from:

Families United Network, Unit 5, Britannia Estate, Leagrave Road, Luton.LU3 1RJ on alternative Saturdays, offering full support to young people with disabilities.

Are you the right person for the job?
Do you have:

• Personal or professional experience in interacting with children and young people with disabilities
• A strong desire to have a positive effect on people with disabilities, and a commitment to supporting and promoting their individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals
• Personal qualities of resilience, empathy and self-confidence
• Show commitment and punctuality
• Ability to manage play activities and participate in activities such as swimming/bowling music etc

Youth Workers

FUN are looking for Youth Workers for our Youth Club and Young Adults Club.
Clubs runs from:  Unit 5, Britannia Estate, Leagrave Road, Luton, Beds, LU3 1RJ
on Monday and Tuesday evenings, offering full support to young people with disabilities.

Do you have:

  • Personal or professional experience in interacting with children & young people with additional needs and disabilities
  • A strong desire and commitment in promoting disabled children & young people’s individual needs, skills, abilities
  • Must be proactive and be able to participate in activities alongside the young person
  • Be committed, punctual & reliable
