Families United Network are recruiting new trustees including a secretary to join the Board.  FUN are looking for people who can commit to 3-4 hours a month to attend evening board meetings to assist with the development of the Charity and it’s services.  Being a Trustee of FUN is a rewarding role (Role of a Trustee) and a vital one so if you would like more information then please do get in touch by either calling 01582 420800 or contact us.

Clerk to the Board

The board of trustees require a Clerk to the Board.  We are seeking an experienced, skilled and competent person.

Duties will include:

  • Minute taking at 10 meetings per year
  • Efficient administrative support
  • Organise the Annual General Meeting
  • Collation and distribution of board paper in accordance with legal requirement, and the charities constitution.
  • Additional duties as required by the board of trustees.

Average of 4 hours per month.  Attendance is required at 10 evening meetings per annum, usually on a Monday

£8 – £10 per hour depending on experience

Volunteer Support Workers

FUN are looking for Volunteer Support Workers to assist in our Youth Club, Young Adults Club, Holiday Club and respite services.
All FUN Clubs run from:  Unit 5, Britannia Estate, Leagrave Road, Luton, Beds, LU3 1RJ

Are you the right person for the job?

No experience is necessary as full training will be given, however you should have:

  • A strong desire and commitment in promoting disabled children & young people’s individual needs, skills, abilities
  • Must be proactive and be able to participate in activities alongside the young person
  • Be committed, punctual & reliable
  • Must be enthusiastic and approachable and a good team player

Volunteer Fundraising Assistants

FUN are looking to recruit Fundraising Volunteers to assist at FUN fundraising events, presentations and network meetings.

Duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Representing FUN at events and presentations
  • Raffle prize collections
  • Collection tin distribution
  • Raffle ticket sales and ticket collection
  • Donation collections

Are you?:

  • aged 16+ (no maximum age)
  • approachable, committed and reliable
  • able to volunteer at weekends, evenings or during the daytime
  • willing to travel and able to assist at events all around Bedfordshire and surrounding areas
  • looking to learn new skills, gain new experiences and help make a difference to families with children & young people with additional needs & disabilities

Volunteer Minibus Driver

FUN are looking to recruit a volunteer Minibus driver to drive the charities minibus and passengers on outings and events.

Duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Driving the FUN vehicles (adaptable and non adaptable)
  • Completing Damage Report sheet before and after each session
  • Responsible for the safety, comfort and welfare of all passengers which include service users and staff
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of vehicles, inside and out and ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle miles
  • Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents in the log book and to the Service Manager

Are you?:

  • Age 25+ (for insurance purposes).
  • A current, clean and valid driving licence holder (D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence, D1 restricted)
  • Pleasant, approachable, patient and honest
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Able to work using your own initiative and as part of a team.

Volunteer Receptionists

FUN are looking for volunteer receptionists to cover reception at our FUN Swim Sessions at Keech Hospice Swimming Pool

Working hours will be 3.30pm to 5.30pm – up to 2 Saturdays per month

FUN Swim Sessions take place at:  Keech Hospice Swimming Pool, Keech Hospice, Great Bramingham Lane, Streatley, Luton LU3 3NT

Reception duties to include:

  • Meet & greet FUN Members on arrival at Keech Pool
  • Sign in/out pre-booked swimmers
  • Answering queries/questions regarding FUN services

  • Available to work up to 2 Saturdays per month
  • Able to be committed, punctual & reliable
  • Enthusiastic and approachable and a good team player
